I believe Badspot said this a long time ago, but Blockland is pretty much done. It's been in development for a little more than 11 years. What new is there to add? All new things come from the players itself such as Slayer, server hosting, weapons, events. I'm sure Badspot is moving on.
There is always room for improvement. Be creative, pretty sure you can come up with many more additions/amendments for the game.

I like playing Blockland, I really do! Just wondering if Blockland is getting enough support. Personally, I don't see any changes or anything happening to the game (Besides user-created content).

What do you guys think?
sorry to say bud but, hes not going to update the game anytime soon. and if he is it's going to be a bug fix or hat update or something

But why do anything for Blockland even if Badspot decided to update? Blockland is filled with screaming children that will attack Badspot if he does anything right or wrong. This community is ungrateful and not worth putting effort into.

It's not about the screaming user base, it's about updating a game that makes profit just like any other game company

Badspot has already made hundreds of thousands of dollars I am sure. He's making other games too. He has no need to update this one. He is only one guy too.

Yeah ok keep justifying why the game should just be left to rot from now onward.

He's not justifying it, he's attempting to explain why. You do realise this game has already been left to rot?

One could say he's attempting to justify his point. No need to try and nit-pick at every way someone tries to explain something.

Correct, but I'm talking in present tense as I was responding to a post written in present tense.

Best 10$ ever spent. A game company would have already made 4 sequels, each having to be purchased again to include the development progress that has been reached. Well, perhaps that's over-stating, but considering the resources available, Badspot has stayed in the loop for quite a fair bit of time as far as I'm concerned.

I'll be honest, I don't expect or really even want Badspot to release anymore updates. Better vehicle physics would be nice, but we don't need anything more.

Besides, this game has been in development for just over 10 years, plus however long Badspot spent before its beta release working on making the game work. I'm surprised Badspot kept working on the game as long as he did. He deserves a break. He should move on.

Imagine if you were stuck working on the same project for 10 loving years.

The only update I wish Badspot would do is extra mod support, as I linked earlier in the topic.

crash bug fix

It's literally a zero-effort fix. Just copy and paste the code I provided in my topic, test that it works, and push the update. Simple as that.

it's not super-important for the devs to do anything but bugfix. the most valuable additions the devs can provide are ones that give the community more ways to contribute

like has been said earlier in this topic, this is a community-driven game by nature. there are always awesome projects in development, but a lot of them never come to light or become completed. one thing i hope for from the whole steam thing is new people to become a part of the modding community that are more persistent and more likely to finish and release something

the only reason badspot is done with blockland is because he is bored of it. i recall him saying that. I mean who can blame him, id be done with it after a year. hes being maintaining it for a decade now. he is doing it because it still ranks in some money, if it didn't he wouldve thrown it in the trash by now. he has other things to work on

and im assuming by now he probably forgot a lot of things about it and how to make serious changes to the game. stuff aint easy

the last major update was exactly 1 year ago. there were two small bugfixing/tweaking updates after that. I suppose that blockland doesn't really need a whole lot of major updates seeing as the game is mostly community-driven, but it would be nice to see some new features (and more updates in general) in 2015.

Give this man a loving cookie! I couldn't have said it better myself.

I doubt if he forgot lots of things about Blockland/Torque in general. He worked for Garage Games for a few years if I recall, and is a pretty damn good coder. I think a main reason he is "tired" of making updates for the game is because nobody ever seems satisfied with what he does for the game, always expecting MORE for the one-time payment of 20(now 10) bucks.

It's different with a bug like this. This is actually important. People are losing servers due to crashers with the DLL hack. Server hosting is a big part of Blockland, and it's a main reason why people buy the full-game instead of sticking with the Demo. Playing online with your friends is always more fun. Ipquarx makes a really good point; this could be an almost zero-effort update, and people could stop worrying about server crashing...at least for now.
