Author Topic: lighting problem  (Read 999 times)

I made a gun and spawned it in-game, and noticed there was a lighting problem with it (the sun in a different area) I'm not sure how to fix this, and I want this to be fixed because it has me frustrated when this happens.

also I use Milkshape

I don't have pictures right now, because the stupid picture taking software wont work

Turn on "Auto-smooth" in the group tab.

Ctrl + shift + w (Unweld)

Turn off "Auto-smooth" in the group tab.

Shift + w (Weld together)

Select your entire model and then try again

still doesn't work :s

I'll just try to fix this later

Start milkshape and load your model, if you have all flat faces, then this is pretty straight forward, if not, youll have to resmooth or reflatten certain faces you want.

  • Click Faces > Smooth All
  • Your model is now smooth shaded and the normals are fixed (which fixes lighting), If you want it to be flat shaded:
  • Click the Groups tab, and check Auto Smooth if it is not.
  • Unweld your model by selecting all of the model and pressing Ctrl Shift W (Or Vertex > Unweld)
  • Disable Auto Smooth and Weld your model again (Ctrl W)

Your model should be flat shaded, and the normals to it are also fixed (which fixes the lighting issue).
