Author Topic: camera help (olympus sp-600uz)  (Read 555 times)

i cant find anything about this issue on google, so im asking here to see if anyones encountered what im getting

i have an olympus sp-600uz digital camera, and i would like to control it remotely on my computer. olympus came out with software specifically for this, and im pretty sure for the software to read my camera i have to initialize my camera with my computer

only problem is that my computer cant find the initialization setup. from what ive gathered on help forums, its supposed to be set up with the camera, but for me its not. ive updated my cameras firmware, reinstalled my cameras drivers and everything. yet the problem still persists. this is the error message i get:

Quote
windows cannot find '::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\\\?\usb#vid_07b4&pid_0128#000j...\OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\SETUP.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and try again.

EDIT: didnt meant to post yet lol. from the error message its like the setup is supposed to be in the actual camera drive, but its not. the actual drive shows up, but the setup is missing. olympus yields no results. did they just like, skip the 600uz or something? why would it give me the option to initialize if it doesnt even come with the necessary setup?

actually, dont worry about it. im pretty sure the 600uz is just too old for what i want to use it for

i wanted to use the camera in conjunction with olympus capture so that i could take pictures remotely without having to press the shutter myself (animations really shaky since you can tell weights being pushed down on the camera), but capture only accepts cameras with a tethering function, and since capture only works for windows 7 and up, im thinking the 600uz is just too old

ill leave the topic up in case someone actually as a definite answer, but for now ill just use the timer function
