Humans got the idea of paper from wasps. Some Asian folk watched em build their nests from trees and then tried it themselves a super long time ago. So that's one good thing that wasps did (but even so, THEY'VE OVERSTAYED THEIR WELCOME AND MUST DIIIIIIIE)

the birdshot would be far more effective in taking down a lot of the hive members

They're only a pain if you try to mess with em, just close your doors and watch your step and where your hand goes, trust me I've been stung alot by these guys.

Besides pest control don't these guys pollinate trees or something?

Nope, Just stinging machines

They are pretty annoying when they get in your house though but atleast the provide pest control and it's a good reason to love spiders or those kickass plants that eat bugs hueheuheue...
