Author Topic: Can you run a reasonable blockland server off of a Raspberry Pi 2?  (Read 1456 times)

I want a cheap machine for running in a simple blockland server and it seems like it can be run simply enough using a Raspberry Pi 2. What do you need to run a blockland server spec wise?

CPU - 900 MHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A7
RAM - 1GB
VIDEO - Broadcom VideoCore IV
OS - some form of linux

can it be done, forums!?

Blockland doesn't run on linux very well, I know this from experience so you need to figure out how to run it on linux first

I don't know what the ARM architecture can handle as far as instruction sets go.
The RAM and cpu speed may work for something simple, with a low playercount

This too

If your concern is just cost, buy a cheap used computer

a processor that isnt an arm processor

Raspberry Pi 2 will be able to run Windows 10 RT (for ARM) that limits it to the Modern UI (Metro 2.0) and will not include a desktop.

So unless Badspot decides to make a Modern App version of Blockland, its not happening.

can't run blockland on arm

If you have the money you can build a small $200 PC that will run a server quit well.

r u srs

Wine can't run on ARM architectures, so no, you can't run a BL server at all.

Runs quite well for me.

This. But make sure you have a good amount of RAM and a good CPU.

If power costs become an issue as well, used laptops work fine.
I've got a Latitude D630 running 2 servers and a bunch of other local stuff I use, runs fine.

Plus having a battery is nice.

i've got a cheap ass 6 dollar linux vps which runs a blockland server really nicely
