Im pretty sure Start menu > run > dxdiag works and it will get the specs for your CPU, RAM, GPU, etc.

I never understood that either, like why would really want to run shaders in the first place. They're ugly and take up way to much performance for it to be worth it. With the soft shaders modification you can make them look actually decent, but it takes a beast of a computer to run.
