Author Topic: [Rant] Already having trouble with work  (Read 454 times)

If anyone remembers last week when I was prancing around all excited about my first job, I'll say now that I've lost almost all of that enthusiasm (You: Yeah, you were pretty annoying.). I was hired at Hardee's (Carl's Jr for you SW USA kiddies) Wednesday last week as a front of store employee, where I'm supposed to ring up orders from customers, keep the tables and floors clean, empty trash, etc. Since being hired, I have not done a lick of work and haven't made one cent.

You: Why haven't you been working, dude?

Well, mainly because of computer problems down at the restaurant and no one is communicating with me. I shall narrate my entire log since being hired:

Wed, June 10 - interviewed, officially hired...told to come back at 11:30am the next day
Thurs, June 11 - filled out tax forms, my name was added to roster...computer system locked my manager out of the training program so I couldn't do any training...manager told me to come back on Monday at 1:00pm
Mon, June 15 - I walk in to find out that the manager is not there. Shift lead supervisor was all apologetic and told me to go home and she would call me back right when her shift was over to schedule a new time for me to come in. She gave me her cell number, the restaurant number, and my manager's cell number....but she never called me.
Tues, June 16 - Still expecting the call...never got it.
Wed, June 17 - I took matters into my own hands and called the restaurant. A girl who I'd never met answered and told me she would tell the manager to call me back....the manager never called me.
Thurs, June 18 - I called the restaurant again and got the shift supervisor. She apologized for not calling me but said that the manager was not in today. She promised to call me at around 9:00am the next day.
Fri, June 19 - Nope, still didn't call me....so I called AGAIN. Got the shift supervisor again too, wonderful. She told me the manager was gone taking a trip to the bank. Right there, I told her I'd be calling back in 30 minutes and I'd better hear something. Following through, I managed to catch the manager...only to find out she got my schedule wrong and put me down for this coming Thursday, when I'd told her three times that I would not be available this work week.

Now, she is supposedly fixing my schedule and told me to call back on this coming Saturday morning. I'm definitely going to follow through, but I'm hoping I don't have to deal with more crap because I really need to be working this summer...

While all this was going on, I still had a $315 traffic ticket to pay and had to make money for a down payment on a car by the time school starts, since my brother would be using the family van full time for school and I'd be stuck. It was already iffy about me making enough by that time so my parents were freaking out on me. Now that I got a gigantic savings check from my grandparents, that issue is no longer a problem but I still need to start working so I know how much I'll be making for car payments, car insurance, and my cell phone bill among other things (computer for college, smartphone for my own internet, apartment in case I move away for college, etc).

I'm stuck.

That sucks man, sorry to hear. At least you're employed and will be getting money soon.

Yeah at least I'm not still struggling with interviews. I just hate being the one doing all the communication.
