I like to think of it as letting girls and boys go through their formative years without having to play with certain toys by default. I could see how it might be a problem if the girl's toys section is full of cooking playsets and dolls, while the boy's section has all the rocket ships, robots, and chemistry sets.

I'm sure the impetus for this was something about gender identity and stuff, but hey something good might come out of this.

you can right now.

but the loving "unsure of gender" stuff has got to stop.
look at your loving body in between your legs. is it a richard? if so, you're a boy. if not, you're a girl. simple!

Eh, I think people should be able to do what they want. There's many cases of people who feel uncomfortable with their gender, but what they feel uncomfortable with has far more to do with general appearance and role in society than biology and genitals.

In other words, academics have gradually appropriated the word 'gender' as a word for outward appearance of femininity/masculinity rather than biological love. Whether you accept that definition is totally up to you, and you aren't obligated to excessively accommodate them.

For me, I'm willing to accommodate pronouns and chosen names and the like, but I wouldn't remove the gendered sections of my clothing store (If I had one) to accommodate people who identify as having no gender at all (whatever that implies).

the concept of people being upset about this is hilarious

There's really nothing wrong or controversial here at all.

Boys-style items and girls-style items still exist in the exact same shop, they're just not labelled as so.
If you have a little boy and he loves soldiers and dinosaurs you can buy him soldier/dinosaur items..
If you have a little girl and she loves horses and princesses you can buy her horse/princess items..

Now the only difference is an uncreative person has to maybe choose a suitable item for the specific child they're buying it for, rather than just grabbing something from the boy aisle for Timmy, and something from the girl aisle for Sally.

And most likely, even without the labelling in the store, you'll still find that plenty of girls items are pink/yellow, and plenty of boys stuff are blue/green.
