doesn't change the fact that it is far more efficient than after effects

what
garry's mod can do the exact same particle effects i was doing in after effects in addition to more in the background, and faster
not sure what your point is

loving lies, garrysmod is the most un-optimized piece of stuff that could be made.

Idle in the main menu and watch your cpu temps go up, people told him to not have changing pictures in the main menu because it was cpu intensive, his response "No thanks I don't want my game to look like stuff", we could of had a better console over the main menu but noo, and don't even get me started on how the workshop runs in gmod, that is the stuff pit of terrible implementations, dev takes down his addon > gets deleted from your computer, and lets not start on the fake DMCA complaints on uploaded workshop stuff, and now way to download dupes.

exactly my point
garry's mod is extremely unoptimized and it is still more efficient than after effects at rendering basic stuff

Okay, nevermind, you clearly have zero understanding of anything you are talking about, please just stop talking and go ask someone to help you build a more powerful computer.

I'll fully admit that I don't really know how this stuff works; but I expect a $600 piece of software to be able to simulate particles without freezing an 8-month-old computer with a decent graphics card, and I don't find that unreasonable because a game engine can simulate those same particles and do more at the same time while being much faster.

You do realize laptops are usually under-clocked to save battery, and other than that the "Optimized" battery setting usually does the same thing.

Why would any professional try to render a video on a latop, try a desktop, their stronger and can handle more stuff.

Please stop talking and realize you are trying to render things on powerful software on a not even close to powerful laptop.

Now I know why I have a better time rendering things on my PC than you, even though mine is like 3 years old.

You cannot compare the real-time particle rendering of a video game to the rendering that is done for what is supposed to be a high quality video.
