Partisanship is the root of all evil in politics

independent ftw.
Just making sure if you are aware that the IAP is a party itself, not an unaligned status.

I honestly wish that there was a political party formed that held by the idea that they would support any politicians that would choose to identify with them based on popularity, but as a "party", they would not hold any ideologies except that the party would support whoever the people have favor.  It wouldn't be all or none, but it would be variable, depending completely on levels of favor.

Partisanship is the root of all evil in politics
actually partisanship develops because the way our government is organised favours the development of factions and our terrible election systems encourage even more powerful factions because the only way you have a chance is to get as many people on board as possible and be the only winner so people have to strategically vote for whomever will best represent their interests (chances are nobody will perfectly and still have a chance)

partisanship is just a manifestation of other underlying problems in politics, all fuelled by the struggle for people to exert their interests over others

in summation, government is for nerds

i'm personally ""independent"" because i'm part of the dealignment craze of the era, but i'll probably vote democrat 100% of the time because that's the only party i can really vote for worth anything i would ever agree with. ideologically i'm not as moderate as "independent" might suggest, the problem is that i'm not moderate enough to fit snugly into the democratic party when general elections actually come around
