A lot of "Millennials" are becoming/have been adults now. However, even if every single like minded millennial votes, its still not enough to overcome the opposites. This Election is a mess because this country still has a majority of people who firmly believe that white people can do no harm, christianity is the end all be all religion and if you go against it you do not deserve to live, and generally trying to keep outdated social views alive.
Bernie is partially losing because he isn't cutthroat enough. Hate to say it, but if he was a bit more of an starfish and a tad bit more manipulative he would blow Hillary out of the water. Also it doesn't help him when most of the voters think socialism=bad even though a ton of other first world countries are democratic socialist and strive thrive very well from it.
Well according to
census statistics, if all millennials were like-minded, then we would outnumber the baby boomers. I don't know where you got that information, but it's false.
There are actually a bunch of reasons that Bernie is losing.
- He is not cutthroat enough, as you said, however, his tactic is to be "the better man" in the eyes of Democrats. The Clinton name is almost as synonymous with American politics as Kennedy is, and is just as synonymous as Bush is. Although he plays on valid resentments against the Clinton administration, which comes to his advantage, the establishment is so firmly planted, that one could easily argue that he bit off more than he could chew.
- He is trying to bring Socialism to America when it's not the right time. The millennials are more receptive of the idea, but there is as much consensus on the matter as there is solidarity amongst conservatives across the board. It's like throwing out seeds on infertile ground.
- American culture itself is very affirmative-negative. It likes to compartmentalize people, things, and ideas and assign labels to them. Socialism has for a long time attracted resentment, mostly from events such as the red scare, so it has a negative connotation. Although this is just a joke, it does shed some insight on a common American opinion.
It's like trying to spread seeds on ground that will not nurture it. That is the dilemma.
- Next, Bernie may very well be the ideal agent of socialism in American politics of our time. Sadly, many years have been spent, and he is now old, and many don't expect him to live through the presidency.
- Bernie tries to play on the fears of Americans just as Annoying Orange does, however, where Annoying Orange is gathering supporters from being proactive, Bernie is more benign.
