Author Topic: [WIP] RPG Landscape Model  (Read 1054 times)

I've been working on this for a few hours and feedback would be appreciated.

Basically, I'm only showing off the work-in-progress model of the actual build. In order to build a large-scale landscape, I always have to build a smaller-scale model of it to base it off of. This model is 64x smaller than the actual terrain being built near it, (yes, it does sound way too big, but it does look fine), and is made from 1x1f bricks.

Top-down view showing terrain of mountains and hills. If you notice, some of the sand is a more vibrant yellow than the rest, this is because the more vibrant area is going to be a more scorching desert with patches of ruins in it.

More up-close shot showing some of the stuffty terrain in the background. I used the mini-empires crates and supplies brick to represent a town with buildings, and I think it does the job alright. The upright cigarette near the bottom is actually a lighthouse so don't get confused. The smaller grey blocks in the water represent rocks in the water, and the brown in the center of the image represents a steep mountainside. The mountain is much taller from the ground in the actual build, I didn't feel like building the tall mountain terrain proportionally just so it would be easier to build the model.

Shot from another angle showing a desert area with small hills of sand and the grass surrounding it.

Accidental DOF image, sorry. This image shows a walled-off area with trees (not to scale) and a peninsula-like shore.

Not sure when I'll release images of the upscaled terrain, as it's in a stupid looking state at the moment (no detail, very basic outline). My main focus right now on this project is to complete the minimap so I can resume progress on the whole build. Much is subject to change, as this is just a very rough draft that I started today.

dont bash yourself so hard; it looks great. Bigger = better in general for RPG's
