Jesus that's horrible, I almost drowned in a similar way once I'm glad I'm still here today though.

dammit why do good people die painful deaths but horrible Self Delete bombers get an instant freedom
not fair/10

I never really played HAWKEN but this sounds really unfortunate and unexpected. Condolences to the deceased's family. They must be going through a lot rn.

Actually, drowning is very painless. It's supposedly very peaceful. Most of the "pain" comes from the struggle and fear. Otherwise you just black out from lack of oxygen and then go.

Wow, rest in peace. :(

I don't mean to be insensitive, but how do you drown in horizontally-moving water? Isn't it the same as swimming in regular water?
Rivers are extremely dangerous to swim in because of their erratic currents. Get too far from the shore and you'll get sucked right under and won't come back up.
There's a river at a beach in Maine that I used to vacation at, and several people are known to have drowned from swimming in it. I've actually swam in the more shallow parts of that river and could barely stay on my feet from the current throwing my legs all over the place.

I wouldn't exactly call it peaceful, but at least he wasn't in too much pain as he died.

It's peaceful if you make it peaceful. Hold breath as long as you can then take one big inhale and it will be all over.

I say that because there are many people who have almost died from drowning (and been resuscitated) who say this. I imagine it's the fact you can just kind of let go and let yourself pass. All the water kind of drowns out sound, and visually it's probably not bad either.
