Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence is calling for an investigation into whether contributions to the Clinton Global Initiative influenced Hillary Clinton’s decisions as secretary of state.

“The new emails that have been made public just in the last week seem to make a direct connection between favors done by State Department officials and major foreign donors to the Clinton Foundation,” the Indiana governor said on “Fox News Sunday.”

Republican vice-presidential nominee Gov. Mike Pence on Sunday suggested a federal investigation into whether Hillary Clinton, during her tenure as secretary of state, provided political favors to foreign donors to her family’s Clinton Foundation, saying “the American people have a right to know.”

The Indiana governor argued that emails made public last week suggested such a connection between State Department officials and major foreign donors to the foundation but acknowledged that Clinton’s involvement remains unclear.

“It looks that way more and more every day,” Pence said. “That's what we need to find out.  … This is exactly the kind of pay to play politics the American people are sick and tired of. It is just one more example of the way I do believe that the Clintons have been operating over the last 30 years.”

Republican vice-presidential nominee Mike Pence insisted Sunday that the public has a “right to know” whether Hillary Clinton engaged in pay-to-play by granting State Department access to top Clinton Foundation donors during her tenure as secretary of state.

Asked if recently released emails show the Democratic presidential nominee traded access for donations, Mr. Pence said: “It looks that way more and more every day, doesn’t it?”

Want to make sure we have a robust process in place to make sure that donations that come in from those donors, in any form, get put into the operating account.

the state dept is running its own investigation and I'm pretty sure that in a Republican-majority Congress she's still eligible to be impeached, because it's a separate investigation

FBI director recommended no charges, justice department followed that recommendation and decided not to charge. the state department reopened their investigation afterwards, which was apparently temporarily suspended to avoid interfering with the others. though if i understand correctly the state department could only give sanctions and not actually criminally charge her, but i may be wrong on that

also the party balance of congress might change after the election, though a return to republican control wouldn't be unlikely after her midterm. i doubt clinton would have coattails as strong as obama if she won though
