Oh then I suppose Ryouma will follow them until they stop somewhere then he can do dramatic intro
Y'know, they need to be well rested so I can have some challenge fighting them B^)

Ryouma follows the party seemingly without any trouble at a good distance.  He sets up camp, and makes sure not to make any light with his fire.  He instead uses a lot of layered clothes to keep warm in the desert night.  He looks up at the stars and determines that the caravan is probably moving toward Hadhirah.  In observing them, he notices that there are at least 7 guards, Zaid, and the Appraiser to deal with.  However, he falls asleep for a short while, knowing that he can deal with them either later in the night or sometime in the morning.

Sometime through the night, Ryouma wakes up to Fazi above him with a large, sharp rock flake to his neck.  In a sharp but hushed voice, he says, "I don't appreciate you leaving my comerades for dead, whoever you are, leaving me for dead, and furthermore, letting those bastards cart them away like that.  I had to bury him, myself, you know!"

"I had fai that you two would escape and join up with me later. I had no idea he was actually dead, I swear. But given current circumstances..."
Ryouma nervously coughs
"...You have two options. One is to join me in liberating your little bandit squad or you can watch your little bandit friends get carried away, sold to do God knows what. Choose wisely."

Ryouma
"I had faith that you two would escape and join up with me later. I had no idea he was actually dead, I swear. But given current circumstances..."
Ryouma nervously coughs
"...You have two options. One is to join me in liberating your little bandit squad or you can watch your little bandit friends get carried away, sold to do God knows what. Choose wisely."

Fazi pauses, visibly torn over the issue, but then releases Ryouma and then rests, sitting down a distance away.  "Fine..." he says, followed by a pause, "But before you decide anything rash, I can tell you're not from around here.  Recently, the slave trade in Ajaida, Sewad and Aqur started rapid expansion, and rather than the government enforcing regulations like it usually does, it instead seized the industry and is contracting out to the traders that once ran the businesses on their own.  From the looks of it, my former friend Fazi saw it more honorable to punish human lives for a buck..."

He pauses again.

"Though we may be bandits, very few of us meddle in the slave trade, as it usually means more trouble than it's worth.  Two of the biggest gangs in Al'Alawah were completely wiped out.  I want to save my friends, but should you choose to fight, you may very well be branded an enemy of the state..."

Quick question, did you mean that Zaid sees it more honorable to punish human lives for a buck? Also why do I have both the tantō and the naginata when I had to choose only one

"That's right.  Zaid as my childhood friend.  We lived in the slums of Al'Alawah.  Food was scarce, so many of us pilfered.  Zaid, on the other hand, knew it was wrong to steal and either did not take part or had great difficulty in doing so, even when he was suffering.  Apparently he doesn't really care for the bounds of friendship, only to be so-called righteous under the law.  I worry who else he sold out"

Because the tantō and the naganita are on two different item lists.  The choice was between a naganita and a tachi.  Did you delete the message?

Oh wait my bad I mixed them up, my bad.
"So how do you reckon we stop them? Revolution?

"I suppose.  How do you propose we attack?"

"Hmmm... I need to get in the mindset for planning an invasion of sorts, I'm the son of a warlord after all.."
"Hmmm... We're both pretty useless in solo fighting so we need to stay together. Before we plan this, what are you better with, swords or lances?"

"Swords.  Broad and short is ideal."

"Hmmmm..."
He shows him the Tantō.
"Will this be good?"

Fazi's eyes widen.
"U-Uh, yes, that would work wonderfully.  Are you sure you want me to use such a precious blade, though?" he says, while hesitantly taking it and looking over the fine craftsmanship on the hilt.

"For now, it's a tool to liberate your friends. I trust that the only way it'll be damaged is if it chips on someone's bone that isn't mine. Now, get some rest, we leave at dawn. Have some water and bread, too."
