isn't some big volcano there due for an eruption relatively soon
idk if it's the one that buried pompeii or not
Vesuvius isn't exactly overdue, but it is the most active volcano on mainland Europe, and hasn't had a major eruption since 1944.
It could blow at any time, but the seismic activity in Amatrice isn't likely to be connected as Vesuvius is quite a distance away, near Naples.
