So I already got him involved into jetting, planting bricks, wrenching the bricks and vehicle spawns to make vehicles and weapons.

What else should I teach him?

does he know the brick controls ie the numpads

Some basic events and relay events and whatnot. Also get him into a LITTLE bit of VCE.

how to shift/move his brick

any newbie needs to know that

Judging by how nobody on Blockland likes to release their content so people don't have good builds and addons to run a decent server unless they have coding/building knowledge, you'd better push your friend into the 'content creator' path instead of the 'join other servers' path. Else they are probably going to lose interest in the game.

Teach them how to build, and how to be creative while building. Events too, maybe.

teach him to run away while he still can
Also get him into a LITTLE bit of VCE.
a bit too complex for starting bl

There are some decent steam guides. A lot of them are joke guides such as how to build harambe but a few of them might be of use.

never let him visit blf

Teach him to bind "Use 1st Slot" to 1, because who the hell needs a "Use Bricks" key when any number will work.
Teach him how to install add-ons, especially client sided ones required for servers, and how to set up any possible keybinds for them.

this always pissed me off so much

Y'know that whole thing about Badspot making that update that would default your controls if something was unbound? Use Bricks was one of those things, so instead of just, making it not one of those things, he removed that aspect of the update altogether.
