Author Topic: Mouse for 3D modeling and etc.  (Read 605 times)

hi guys whats up
im tryna look for a mouse to add to my surface pro for 3D modeling, but I have no idea what to go for.
i mean obviously like a gaming mouse isnt going to work which is all i have at home, so help me out please haha
my budget isnt too big of a problem but id love to stay below 100$

cheers

Why do you need a mouse specific to 3d modelling? Its not like it takes ultra precision or speed to model. People have done it just fine on regular 'ol HP mice.

You should probably go more for a stylus rather then a mouse if your doing sculpting. Your mouse doesn't matter at all unless you're using Blender and want to rebind a few of the 600 keybinds used in the program to your mouses extra buttons.

already have a stylus because im on a surface, lmao?
its hell for navigating

because itll be used for solely 3D modeling. i have a huge budget so i might as well go for something thats ummmm better than a "regular ol HP mouse"

One of those MMO mouses that have 9 or 12 numeric buttons on the side might figure worthwhile, as beach said just for the purpose of assigning everything to hotkeys though.
Also I heard trackballs are pretty good for modelling if you get used to them [citation needed].

Like I said, there is no mouse to service 3D modeling. Having an HP mouse vs a Razer Naga is going to show negligible differences as being a tool to make 3D models. In terms of utility, maybe the mouse macros will make things a bit more accessible. If you have to have something for the sake of burning cash, just get a mouse with programmable macros.

Here, I found one in like 10 seconds:

I wonder if something like this would be usable

Afaik AutoHotKey can differentiate between peripherals so you can make a macro board out of it.
Though not exactly a mouse.

The thought of having 12 buttons on the side of my mouse gives my hand an aneurism. 6 is pushing it, but I can see the easy utility.

lol i found one thats appropriate. wireless, 2 side buttons and another button below the scroll
thats all i needed really for a decent price. cheers
