iirc the treaty essentially says you can't claim land but you can own things you sent to space

which means when we start colonizing, all the nations will just claim land by setting safety regions or whatever where they deny trespassing to protect their assets

it's not the best treaty in terms of integrity tbh

It's not like the UN is the police. If there was a nation founded outside of Earth, then it wouldn't be recognized by the UN unless they change their criteria. It can still exist.
