Meh

So after a quick googles assuming you don't have apple care going to the apple store and them replacing a battery is around 200-250. So yeah definitely explore all the possible reasons such as a bad charger, outlet or cord.

ha ha ha

if you looked at the link you would notice this is a replacement program which is entirely free (in the case OP bought his phone in the said period)

i fixed it. i took a plastic toothpick thingy and forgeted about with it inside my charger port and got a stuff ton of lint and stuff out of it, and then i rubbed the lightning thingy itself with my thumb. i put it in my charger port and it didn't work, so i flipped the cable upside down and pushed a little harder into the phone and it worked just fine.

Don't listen to these sillies. The problem is the wall adapter. Your phone is getting less power than it needs to stay on. If you plug your phone, turn it off, leave it over the night, it will be at 100% when you turn it on.

I've had this happen with a poor electrical network. It's not the phone nor the cable. It's either a dying wall adapter or a stuffty power grid.
It might be a problem with the power socket. I recommend holding in the charger and with the other hand putting a fork in the other socket. The passive electrons in the metal fork will send a sort of "jumpstart" signal to the charger.

would this work with a Nintendo 3DS? i get the same problem.

i thought the iPhone 5 was notorious for having battery issues where the phone wouldn't accept a charge due to the battery inflating (which they give free repairs or maybe $90 idk)
edit: after reading last post seems like your charging port is going bad

See if the golden pins on the charger have black on them, if so its probably burned
Or do you have a bulging cable cause that happened to me
