the rifles used by filipino police and such are of the american maker sig sauer. the US recently decided to halt a deal which would turn over 26,000 rifles for the assumed purpose of culling additional "addicts" in the ongoing filipino drug war.

president duterte is upset over the development, saying he'll open up arms trade with russia instead and that "we have a lot of explosives here" -- an archaic but presumed threat against the US.

At least we know the US won't bomb them since they are allied with China.
We wouldn't have bombed them anyway. There's kind of a precedent for the US ignoring human rights abuses until it interferes with our bottom line.
