Author Topic: 3DS XL problems. MicroSD card to SD card adapter related reasons :(  (Read 1605 times)

AYO so I was like one day in the world of July of 2016 when I put in my micro sd card adapter into my original 3DS XL and I've been using this combo since about January of 2016 but like for whatever reason it decided to stuff on me and says "No SD card detected, Software could not be displayed." I literally just bought a new micro sd card adapter and it says the same thing, I tried every form of formatting but it never works. Can someone list off reasons why this is happening and how to fix it without telling me to take it to repair. I literally have spent so much money on the Nintendo E-shop I dont even buy the cartridges lol. Oh and btw I tried another sd card that wasn't an adapter and it worked but stuff dude this is a 32 gb sd card I'd really like to use a 32gb than an 8gb. Help, I dont want to take it into repair

if you tried a different adapter, that most likely means the adapter isn't the problem
you formatted it on your computer? what file system did you use?

does the regular SD card work? (the one that came with the console)

did you throw away the SD card that came with the 3ds? i use a 32GB microsd to regular SD adapter for my 3ds as well and there's no issues on my end.

i know the launch 3ds models came with a fault that made it so that the SD cards were sometimes not detected when inserted and the resolution was just to reinsert it until it showed up, after that you wouldn't have issues until the next time you reinsert it.

All SD cards work, I think it's actually the micro sd card, I tried 4 different adapters. And I formatted it as FAT32. Should I just give up on the micro sd card?

have you tried actually using it in a computer? does it work for other things, aside from the 3DS?

Yes, I used a USB adapter and just inserting it into my computer. It's fine, just my 3DSXL can't read it.

and the 3DS has no problem with other cards?
this is a very weird situation. you may just have to get another SD card. but on the bright side, if it still works for everything else, maybe you'll find another use for this card someday

Yeah, I've tried 5 other regular SD cards and they're all fine. And yeah, it's strange. I just wish I could use this 32 gb sd card. That's fine though, thanks for all your help.

You could always just use a regular SD card instead of a Micro SD+Adapter seeing as there isn't any benefit or reason to be using a Micro SD on a normal 3DS anyway. SD cards are crazy cheap these days too so getting a normal 32GB card shouldn't be a big issue.

Are you formatting the SD card with the default Windows formatting tool?

Mac. I formatted to MS DOS FAT because it automatically puts it to FAT32 once it's formatted as so. It detects SD card storage type

Is the partition table set to MBR and not GUID or APM?
