i don't think quality has anything to do with it, i think it's just op's been playing for a few months.

if you aren't patient enough to get better and ignore people's mockery, then you should just quit. it takes a lot of time to get good, especially with a double reed instrument. i've been playing Annoying Orangeet for 7 years and it took me at least 2 years of hard work and practice every day to become second chair.

i might be different, but once you set your mind on something, don't stop.

no i have to try and git gud with practice at home

i may not be involved in band but i am a viola player
do you also clean it regularly? i'm not sure if this will effect the quality of the notes coming out of the instrument but it is a good habit to keep with any and all instruments

Honestly this might be a problem. Usually school-issued instruments are not as well-kept. Although double reeds by nature are difficult to work with, there is a good possibility of at least one leak.

yea the issue is just that it's a school instrument. if you want to commit at all to your instrument then just buy one, doesn't have to be expensive
