Author Topic: Garry's mod dangerously crashing my PC  (Read 1444 times)

Sometimes out of the blue Garry's mod crashes my computer for no reason and it does it in a very dangerous way by causing the game to stop and a black screen. The only way I can get back to desktop is to restart my computer, the crash is so dangerous I can't even use ctrl + alt + del to bring up task manager. Does anyone know a way to stop this from happening?

1 - try removing some of your addons, they might be causing problems
2 - verify game cache
3 - send us pc specs
4 - worst case scenario, reinstall.

If you're hoarding addons, you should stop doing that.
You may just have too much stuff.

We need details about the bluescreen. We need to know the exact STOP Code.

I think it's the fact that you might have a stuff load of addons and garry's mod using too much memory trying to load those addons

lol @ addons crashing computer, unless you installed a module and it's acting maliciously then sure it can, problem is you gotta manually install modules and they're dll files.

is this happening whenever you run any other game that's as demanding as gmod? if not, what other games did you try to check with?

sorry for the lateness, it is only Garry's mod that does this and I do have tons of addons about 500+ but I only have about 40 enabled

but mcjobbo, he didn't say it was a bluescreen error in the original post.

he talks about a "black screen", not the blue screen.

this happens to me but on every steam game and if its in full screen, that might be your problem although when it happens to me i can still ctrl-alt-del but thats about it, cant put any other window over the black screen even if i alt-tab. so even if you have a lot of addons that doesn't mean its the exact problem. I don't know a fix for this other than being in windowed mode where it wont happen, unless you are in windowed then i don't know what to say. i hope i could help at least a little.
