Author Topic: apparently my oldass skype got hacked, don't click my links  (Read 993 times)

my old skype was apparently used for the infamous baidu hack stuff, so it got forwarded to everyone on my contact list, including some forumers.

my acc looks like this and will remain this way.

if you clicked the link thinking it was a good idea (it wasn't), change your skype pass because i have zero idea if you possibly were compromised by that.

i don't use skype, so i changed the password to something randomly genned and i'm keeping it like that.

apologies if you got it forwarded to you.

this happened to my friend once

RIP johnnywaffles 2015, his account will be missed

p sure my old skype got hacked too
idk but i dont use skype anymore
i deleted it a few years ago

one of my friends got hit and i clicked the link inadverdently but it seems that the baidu hack isn't even actually targeting your passwords, it's targeting a fault in the normal skype auth system - a fault that skype and microsoft have consistently refused to fix - which lets them log in as you via some connected service without even knowing your information.

that was actually from a cursory google search. change your password just in case, but if you have two-factor authentication you should be good to go. granted two-factor auth is a pain in the ass itself and it might just not be worth it.

happened to me like 8 months ago. thing is that I never clicked any links people sent me, wasn't even using skype for a few months prior.

i think what they sometimes do is target accounts with weak passwords. how they know which and when to target them = your guess is as good as mine
