Author Topic: Vehicle doesn't cast shadows  (Read 1555 times)

So I have made plenty of vehicles, all of which had working shadows.
This one however doesn't for some reason. I can cast shadows on it just fine, it just doesn't cast any of itself.

Shadows also aprtially go through it, as if it was water:

Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: it acts as if it has minimum shaders on, so the sides not lit by the sun ARE in fact darker than the ones lit by the sun. Weird spaghetti torque going on.

did you use the old blender exporter? if so make sure you export as 'triangle strips'

I accidentally opened it in 2.49 and exported, then when I switched to 2.49b I forgot to enable triangle strips, thanks.
I didn't have triangle strips enabled, however enabling them didn't fix it.

Try detaching the transparent meshes from the main mesh and parent them under an empty called "ztranscontainer"

Non-coincidentally this is the first train to use transparant windows instead of just empty holes.
That totally fixed it, thanks a ton!

It's happening again to a new vehicle, but this time using the exact same rig as the last time it doesn't work. I've been trying for 3 hours but I can't get it to work. The glass is there, but it only overlays the other glass and things that aren't the vehicle like bricks and players, not the vehicle itself, so it seems like some 'priority' problem where the vehicle is rendered over the glass. Also yeah no shadow.

P.S. using Port's exporter now (which worked before)
