Well it looks like you might be in luck as long as you don't update to Android 4.4.3. There's a thing out there called App Ops that lets you manage permissions for apps.

It says 4.3 only but I've looked around and it's apparently enabled on 4.4.2 as well.

Did some more research, turns out you need to have your phone rooted.

i have these kind of coincidences happen to me sometimes, it's pretty odd
