alright so let me say that twitter is scummy as all hell. now, at the moment i've been working on a website, and so i decided to give it a twitter account. then, this pops up.



now at this point it gave be a random twitter handle that i didnt want, but also locked my account. now, i've tried at least 6 accounts and every single account i make for anything leads to this screen. why?

BECAUSE IT'S A SCAM

This is designed to trick people into giving in and putting in their tracking id phone number and let twitter get yet another footing in your privacy. And this isn't even touching on their machine learning stuff and censorship.

it literally doesn't do this unless you mean your display name which you can change anyway. if your handle is taken by someone else it suggests variants for you to use iirc
