Author Topic: Does anyone know a durable AM4 motherboard?  (Read 662 times)

I'm looking at picking up a Ryzen 5 1600, and I would like to keep it for like ~4 years. I was wondering if there was any motherboards that aren't made of cheap-o stuff or have a flimsy PCB. Anything below $200 preferably? Chipset doesn't matter as long as its not A320.

All the overclocks are the same. However you can either go with the msi b350 tomahawk for $100 or the $130 b350 msi gaming pro carbon for single card/ $170 x370 msi gaming pro carbon for multiple gpus. OR you can go with asrock x370/asus x370 motherboards.

I know the OC's will turn out the same - 3.8GHz should be good enough for me - but like how's the power phase design for those mobos, how good are the caps, etc. Those kinds of things are the things I want to have the most time put towards. Like a board that is over engineered almost just because of how much of a freak I am with making sure that the power being fed to my components is as clean and stable as possible.

gigabyte ultra durable branded boards are top notch
as well as asus boards

Here's a quick rundown of most B350 chipset motherboards: https://youtu.be/ZGrxhf_xZWI
TL;DR:
#1: MSI Pro Gaming Carbon/Krait Gaming
#2: ASRock AB350(M) Pro4/K4 Gaming
#3: ASUS B350s with heatsinked VRMs
#4: All other MSI boards except the Gaming Pro (two memory slots)
#5: All Gigabyte boards with heatsinked VRMs
#6: MSI Gaming Pro

i got an msi pcmate for $80-90ish bc the tomohawk was up around $130 at the time and they're essentially the same board. runs fine & looks better except for the dumbass dim white leds on the back of the corners
