Author Topic: Profile Picture Cooldown?  (Read 1003 times)

I changed my profile picture to the one you see now, but then I added a neat border to it and wanted to upload that instead.
However, I can't seem to upload the new image; and I'm not sure why.

  • The image is 75x75.
  • The image is PNG.
  • I've tried to change the name of the file I'm trying to upload.

Hopefully, someone knows the answer.

try resizing the image to 74x74, it usually works.

what did you use to add the border? if you used Photoshop, then try opening it with Paint.NET and saving it again. for some reason SMF will not accept any avatars i save with Photoshop even if they're well within all constraints

There is a ‘cool down’, basically just processing time for the PFP to be updated. I’m not sure how long it typically is, but for instance now your PFP has been updated with the border.

making it a jpeg and/or dithering colours helps in my experience

Changing my image type to jpeg seems to have done the trick, but I want transparency, so I'm gonna see if I can get it to png.

EDIT: Okay, so it seems to revert back to the old image when I use my png image again, so I tried gif and it seems to have worked.
I'm guessing the website becomes confused when the old and new image are the same, so when a different type of image is put in, they're no longer the same. Thanks for the help!
