no, the pain is on the side of the foot facing the other foot

I'm giving placid's theory a lot of credence because the shifting isn't as pronounced anymore and I have feeling in the bottom of the toe again

no nevermind the shifting is back but it can't be a bone because I've done nothing to my foot that would've chipped a bone plus no bone in the toe goes from the ball of your foot to the center of the toe
