You're in a space ship at all times. There are plans to expand the game to make it possible to fly in planet atmospheres and walk in stations, but apart from that it's 100% spaceships.
I might download the trial and give it another try just to see the missions again, along with the changes they made. I won't buy any time for it though, I wasted enough money on it already.
