Brother joining kills server?

My brother and I have two different keys (he just recently got a new one). We got our parents to get us another one because we ran into auth check problems.

However, just now, I was hosting and he joined. Everyone else in the server froze.

Is this coincedence or is it the fact that we're using the same router?

um did you bother to Email badspot first before buying a third key?

Third key? We recently bought a SECOND. The difference here isn't two different accounts. It's a change from same key (which doesn't work in v9 either =/) to multiple keys, same router.

Try hitting internet, then typing the internal IP of the host computer into connect by ip.
