Mounting and deleating

I can't seem to get my weapon so, if you pick it up its normal, but if you already have one in your inventory, it deleates it and adds a compleatly different weapon.

Which part exactly?
Picking up the item, checking if you have one, deleting the old one, or adding the new one?

all of it, i need it to check if you have an item, if you do clear the old one and add the new one.
