how do i make animated avatars?

iv tryed using a .GIF animater but it just animates andthen stops once it ends?
how do i make it loop and plz post a link to a good free animater.plz!
And yes i have tryed googling [free .gif animater] and [where the forget can i get a free .Gif animater]

What is the Gif Animated named? I use Adobe Photoshop/ImageReady to make animated images. Any animation should have a "forever" or "loop" option on the animation plane.

well acctually i use an added program in the game maker i got..ages ago!
it makes animations but they dont loop!
if there are any free ones for now..i dont have phote shop yet?
i will get it soon?
until then i need somthing for this problem of mine?
