Author Topic: Help with computer settings.  (Read 1647 times)

I got a loving irritating virus recently and it tweaked my computers overheating shutdown from 120°F to 60°F so now almost everytime I run a game it shuts down. Also, to make matters worse, my computer has a loving ANNOYING overheating alert where it makes a continuos and repetetive beep at 50°F. Help please D:

Go change some stuff in the BIOS and see if you can fix it.

You could just use the heat exchanging/ammonia pipes from the back of a refrigerator, it works like a dream, and keeps your computer at a nice 5-15°C.

Go change some stuff in the BIOS and see if you can fix it.

Can I get a bit more detail?

Also:

I've tried a system reset, Cleanign it with a vacum, dusting it with a duster and kicking it.

Mess around with the BIOS, press f5-f12 during loading, one of them might work, then try all the options, it might get you into the BIOS settings, with it's pretty blue screen,

Yeah, I did that a few days ago but the thing is... my computer is truly forgeted. It completely skips the loading screen and goes to the log in menu.

I might upload a vid to YouTube.

( sorry for double post )

is there any way to access BIOS settings without needing to log-in?

if it helps, heres my control panel.

Ever considered an external fan?

Ever considered an external fan?

I'm doing that right now. Sort of.

I have 2 diffrent fans going into the ventilation areas.

Are you sure is a Virus and not broken hardware inside of your computer? My fan broke on my GFX card once and it over heated as soon as it tried to run anything.

I've never known a virus to be able to alter the BIOS. It sounds more like hardware failure.

To be sure, the first thing you should do is do a System Restore. This will tell us if it is just an issue with the OS. If that doesn't fix it, then the issue could hardware related.

We need more information:

Does it only crash during gaming?
Can you play the game for a certain amount of time before it shuts down the computer?
Have YOU changed any settings recently?
Are you using a integrated graphics card or a dedicated unit?

If it is hardware related then certainly check all the fans in the computer are running by opening the case during operation.

That's really damn low if that's the normal cut-off.

He didn't mention what kind of cooling he has. If he has water cooling he should check the pump too. I had an old water cooler where all the fans worked fine, but the pump was broken.

You really think he has water cooling?  XD

I have no idea why or how;

But it fixed itself. I ran 18 virus scans and after my 17th it stopped.
