Author Topic: From Sketchup to .vtf  (Read 880 times)

Not quite sure if this is the wrong section.

I am making maps/models for the team I'm in for a steam game entitled Athena, and I need to make buildings for the old modeler who was kicked off. But, since I'm horrendous in Hammer, I need to use Sketchup or Milkshape. Feedback please.

For a start, the .Vtf (Valve Texture File) format is for textures and such, and you'd have to export to .3ds and get that into some program which can export into Source-compatible .mdl files, I suggest XLD.

Is it to be in the Source Engine? If so, then you should use Hammer. It is brush based, whereas Milkshape and Sketchup are not. Even if you found a viable export path, it would be more hassle than it is worth and would likely lead to significant errors.

As stuffty as it is; use hammer.
