No that isn't me, I found this a while back to transfer my models. All you have to do is once you have a model made:
1) Go to File -> Export 3D
2) Use drop down box to select Google Earth (You're exporting the model into a Google Earth format)
3) Save it somewhere that you will remember.
4) Make sure that you can see the file extensions of all of your files.
-If you can't then go to the Control Panel -> Personalization -> Folder Options -> View Then look through this area for a check box that says "Hide File Extensions" and uncheck it.
5) Find the Google Earth file right click and click "rename"
6) Change the file extension from .kmz to .zip
7) Now unzip the zip file and you have a model in there that is .dae
8) Use the FBX converter on the link I gave you to convert it first into .fbx and then convert the .fbx file into another type of file. (Whatever you need whether it be 3ds or whatever type of file you need using the converter)
9) ???
10) Profit!
