The ignition device from a grill works great. Ask someone from school, they usually have them. We have one at my school. Homemade, and easy to use.

BTW, I am pretty certain it is possible to see what fuel is better without building it. Calorimeter works good, and I think it is possible to find out per mol which fuel is better.

Also, make sure you do it BY MOL, not by volume.

I want to build it and blow up some propane for science :D.

What grade are you in?

'Cuz I paid my dues back in 2006.

Get one off a junkyard grill. Dirt cheap and still will spark.

Ok, so you know nothing about science.

My dad is an electricianand we have made a 'tater cannon, but the switch is made out of flint and you have to snap the wheele to get it to ignite.
We used cheap hairspray for a propelant

An Aerosol and a spark, now figure out the air to fuel ratio.

Probably easier to use a pilot flame.

But we went by the book and it said to spray for about 4-6 seconds
