Author Topic: EVGA Step-Up  (Read 1293 times)

Okay, so everyone knows how awesome EVGA is when it comes to warranty and support. They have this little neat thing you can do with their cards, called Step-Up. You basically send them your old card and they give you a new one, and if you like it, you pay the difference (old one subtact new one equals price you pay) according to reviews of it.

I'm deciding to step up from this, to this. Same thing, the new one has 1GB VRAM though, for only an extra $20. Luckily I have a spare $20, in case I do like it and it works.

To get it, though, you have to send in your old card, which would render gaming on my current machine useless if I'm waiting for it, which is why I kept my old 8600GT.
Yes, I looked at both of them. They are literally exactly the same, just different heatsink art and an extra 512MB.

I ask you guys, should I do it?

tl;dr: alt f4.

Yes.  I haven't used my computer in 3 weeks.

I bought EVGA because it looked like a good idea and Reactor Worker suggest them to me.

At first I thought it was a normal card. However, now that I know more about this company, it now looks like a solid lump of gold to me. EVGA, you rock.

Truthfully, I bought EVGA because the card looked nicer and the logo was cool

You won't utilize the full 1 GB, so there really is no point.

I got EVGA because it was cheaper

Also is the step-up for the same card only or different versions?

If so a note-to-self for the future

Of course you can get different cards. I'm just getting an extra 512 MB one because I want to.

Don't do it. Save the money until you do a worthwhile upgrade. The step-up program can only be used once per unique item...so you can't stepup the 1GB one later (if you get it).

Stick with the 512mb card, you won't notice the difference.

evga has an app called precision.
its good for overclocking, or just watching over heat, fan speeds, and fps.

Yeah, I have less than a few days to get a step-up. You're right, thanks.
In the future (At least a year or two) I'll probably upgrade my PSU and graphics.
