Author Topic: We are about to hit a huge problem. (rtb hosting)  (Read 662 times)

Anyone here remember BjWayMods? Remember how we lost a ton of add-ons once it went under?

Now look at Add-ons today. Who is hosting all our stuff? Returntoblockland. Which is fine as long as their servers don't crash, their bills get paid, and all our stuff isn't wiped by an update.

As I mentioned earlier you will be required to re-submit your add-ons to the new system - this acts as a nice method of purging out the bad stuff and its less work for me instead of trying to integrate the old database into the new structure which would be a nightmare.
Oh wait.

Now, unless I interpreted this wrong, all our files are going to be lost. This looks problematic.

Not really. Remove the stuff and reupload the good stuff and we're fine.

We need the occasional wipe to weed out the bad files posted by the lazy people.

However, the good files posted by people no longer playing the game will be lost. Sure, people will stillh ave the mod, but it'll be difficult to get it.

Also, I feel spacial now. Badspot changed my topic title. :D

Maybe the RTB team could give people a weeks notice so modders can archive all their old add-ons ready to upload.

This kinda helps eliminate the mediocre add-ons people forgot about.

a month's notice has already been given via their website. Now, if people are going to follow the warnings...

Nothing is scary about this, most people already post their add-ons here already with links to mediafire.

Out of the 16 add-ons on the first page, 8 are from RTB/have links to RTB

out of those 8, 0 have links elseware.

Unless I missed something, people aren't posting back-up links.

That's their problem then, not ours.
