Author Topic: Laptop I plan to get  (Read 3030 times)

I know enough that this is a wonderful laptop.  I also know its really, really cheap for what it does. I'm just wondering if anyone has any input on whether there's a better laptop for the value out there.
Dell Insperon. xD

I think I'm gonna get this netbook instead of the HP Mini.
Only reason is because Lenovo has IBM's rock solid design, and the specs are really good.

Plus, even though it's an IdeaPad, Trader should still approve.  :cookieMonster:

I just need something good enough for games and versatile enough for bringing to class.

I'm looking at Asus' stuff on Newegg, they got some great looking units.

From what I've heard, the netbook I posted is extremely durable.
I'm getting this one to replace my Eee PC 701, and I'm also getting it for when I go into High School.

Most of the specs for an Eee PC were comparable to this Lenovo I chose out, and I really need a durable laptop for school (people love to sit on your backpacks and walk over your backpacks at my school)

I haven't looked into that yet, but anything is a possibility. People were telling me they liked their macbooks, but I'm on the fence if I would even consider those.

Well, you're looking for something good enough for games and whatnot...
Most modern netbooks can run games like World of Warcraft, Half-Life 2, etc.

If you're looking for running games that require more than a netbook can offer, it would be best to look for a regular laptop. Asus also makes really good standard laptops, too, along with Gateway (even though Gateway laptops can tend to be a bit thick).

Yeah, portability too may play a factor since I hate lugging anything more than a slim backpack to class.

Portability is definately a factor if you want to take a laptop to school. You have your schoolbooks (at least I do), your binder, and having a heavy laptop makes my backpack too heavy to carry. When I got my Eee, it was such a relief not having to lug around an eight pound laptop to school every day.

You know, I wouldn't have even noticed this topic if you hadn't mentioned my name.  Someone linked me to the topic.

1. You never buy ThinkPads directly from Lenovo.  That's just asking to pay hundreds more than you need to.
2. The build quality of ThinkPads is nearly unrivalled in the laptop market.
3. They are very classy and professional looking, instead of glossy and cheap looking.
4. Lenovo offers ThinkPads for all kinds of budgets.

I really don't care what laptop any of you have or are looking to buy.  But, if you message me about it or insult my opinion without cause, then you're just begging me to let you know what I think.

P.S. Nice ThinkPad, Packer. :cookieMonster:

I'm designing a solid, nearly bulletproof computer case for my MBP, and once I have enough money, an HP Mini XP. :D
I just need a big plate of galvanized steel... :\

MBP: Superpowerful, but really hard to carry around all day
HP Mini: Badass, and pretty good
ThinkPad: also badass, but bigger
Dell XPS: WTF???

lol.

I'm looking at getting this one:

You might wanna look into this one as well.

Also, they make one similar to the one your getting in the same price range:

MBP = MacBook Pro?
If so, yeah, those things are terribly hard to carry.
I was considering getting the HP Mini 1000 XP at first, but I know the nice design of the laptop will probably get ruined in my backpack, so I'm gonna get the Lenovo IdeaPad. (Lenovo's ultradurable netbook)

The problem with ASUS is that they just dont seem to be reliable enough..

I looked into them when i was considering building a computer and lots of people said ASUS motherboards are not what they used to be. I'm a tad skeptical of there laptops as well..

If it seems to good to be true, it probably is.

You, sir, are correct.
ASUS doesn't sell batteries for their own laptops it seems. If they do, I haven't found it on their website yet...
If you do anything (replace hard drive, add more RAM), your warranty is void.
