Author Topic: New Clans and How to Deal With It  (Read 1665 times)

So, recently, with all the new clans coming out (with a good 80% of them sucking) I thought to myself how the Clan Discussion is absolutely flooded with new and crappy clans.  Then, I thought, from experience, how much it must suck for a hard-working clan leader to see his or her clan page on the second or third page, just because some people can't stop flaming the one sentence, no effort, leader-has-one-post clans.  So, with this idea in mind, I decided to create this 'guide' on how to deal with all the new clans coming out, and, whether you like it or not, you should stick to this guide; our better clans deserve it.

1) Don't flame the topic.
-As much as you may feel the insatiable need to do so, chances are the clan topic will die if it is that bad as long as it is not flamed.  If the leader continues to bump the topic, drop a comment asking them to lock the thread and tell them why.  New clans are being made every day, and I've realized that some fail clans are still on the first page because of a particularly long flame war going on, so please hesitate to flame.

2) Wish the good clans 'good luck'.
-Newly started clans that have potential should be encouraged, starting a new clan can be scary at times.  Also, by doing this you bump the topic and keep the good clans on the front page.  Older clans that should be on the first page can still be wished good luck, just because it is an older clan doesn't mean they're exempt from this.

3) Follow these rules.
-I realize that clan guidelines have been made for creating clans, but sometimes Clan Discussion posters need their own guide, especially since they post for a topic to die, the leader to drown, etc, but in that are bumping the topic.

These few rules can help cut down on some of the tensions, and hopefully get the clans that deserve it back where they belong -- on the front page of this discussion board.

If you have any suggestions to add, please tell me, I'd love to add more.

That's good and all, but why take the time to write wall-o-text?

Wall-o-text?
Because I don't want people asking questions about a rule unless they really have to.
If they don't take the five minutes to read it then they don't care, and if they don't care then neither do I, they can continue to harm the good clans.

I never really realize how much I type, I guess.
I'll try to break it up into a more outlined form later on.

Rule about following rules?

If you have nothing positive constructive to say to the clan don't say anything at all.

That generally falls under the "don't flame" rule.
