Author Topic: Flatshading  (Read 903 times)

Hey, I'm new to coding and modeling so I'd like to know exactly what flatshading is. I've read a bunch of topics on different ways to do it and how important it is, but I don't know what it actually does. I'm all prepared to get flamed for asking a probably nooby question, but before you do that could someone actually tell me what it is? Thanks.

It makes the model look more boxey. It removes smooth shapes that don't fit with Blockland.

Thanks. So it'll "blockitize" things like cylinders and spheres?

Yes.

Oo. I'll look at the link, thanks.

No. It changes the way shading looks with the lighting.

It makes them look Blocky. Basically what I just said.

In a way. But it doesn't change the shape of anything.

Absolutely wrong.  It changes the way things are shaded so the faces are shaded one color, I believe.
