Author Topic: Can portforwarding effect my router?  (Read 825 times)

Well, since I've finished portforwarding, my router randomly stops "acting". (In which case, it won't do anything if you click a link.) But my router is still linked to the internet. The fix for this is to turn my router off, then back on. But this won't always work. So now my mom is accusing me of the failure of the router.

tl:dr  My router is broken and my mom blames me.

So any idea how to fix?
(My service provider is Telus, Just so you know.)

IMO I don't think it port foward would effect it.  Is your router old?  You probaly treated it bad.

i sure hope port forwarding affects your router, cuz you cant forward a port in a router without the existence of that router.

It is only 2 years old, and my PC is 5 years.

Call Telus and ask them.

My router died at 1.9 years. Linksys sucks.

Could be your ISP. Time Warner cut my service for thirty seconds every two minutes a few summers ago.
