Actually, as a matter of fact, swine flu hasn't yet been declared a pandemic. It is soon to be declared, but for now there is still the possibility of it dying out before then. Think about it, just because it might become a pandemic doesn't mean much. Like Bisjac said, its just as deadly as the common cold. Look how many countries have that? Slim to nobody ever dies from the common cold, unless they have AIDS or no immune system. There is also the Black Plague. It wasn't a pandemic, but it killed very many. The spread has no effect on lethality.
