Author Topic: Cannot Read File/Unknown File  (Read 654 times)

I was trying to get a script for an addon so i could experiment with its scripting, but it says windows cannot read the file because it is an unknown file type. What should I do?

Open With... > Notepad

ok, ill try that, but i guess you cant just click on the script on the zipped add-on?

  • Always use the selected program to open this kind of file

Also, you should extract it anyways, you cannot save directly to the zip.

Get winrar to fix that saving issue.

WinRAR gave me a trial date but it never expired. It gives me a warning of a 40-day trial when I start it up, but works anyway.

When I open the file with noetpad, I get the rectangle symbols and a bunch of other coding gibberish, not the actual console script. If I extract the files, will that get it to work? Also, im not sure what winRAR is. So more help is needed.

Open the .cs files, not the .zip.
Extract them if you wish.

WinRAR is a file compression program, but it's not free. Google 7Zip - that's free, and it compresses better too. It will let you open a zip, modify files, and then save without any extraction.
