What's the diffrence between the v8 adding system and the v12 add on system?

I noticed nothing was diffrent, ( there was no mac v8 so i used v1.03m)  the addons seemed the same.  What is the diffrence?

in the v8 system you ahd to extract them, and it also recognixed addos in nested folders and downloaded them into that order as well (a-la add-ons/add-ons/add-ons/guns/vehicles/f/u/c/k/add-ons/gun.dts) In the new one, it reads zips and normal folders.

yes there was a Mac V8.
It had no music
it was buggy connecting to servers
but it had V8 emitters and bricks.
