It's part of the gimmick that you tell people good things, less fortune telling and more "reassurance telling". Mentioning money in a positive way is a good way to get repeat business, people don't feel like they are wasting money on a reading if they are told that money will come their way. I know of a number of fortune tellers that use it several times each reading.
I used the star method of readings in my tarot readings because two cards always had a "if good" and "if bad" meaning. not always positive but if you tell someone what they should do to avoid bad and what to do to get good they leave the reading feeling armed against things that could happen to them. The advice is so cryptic is tells them nothing but because it's not precise when events happen to them they can make it fit those parameters. It brings back repeat business because people make them selves think that you are predicting the future.
The reading that this guy got from the palm reader was ready kind of a hack job. When everything doesn't pan out exactly like it was predicted he won't be going back for seconds.
