Therefore we all should? I don't get the reasoning.

You did the joints incorrectly on that thing.

You didn't deselect your first joint before you made your second one.
Therefore, creating a bone.


Also, your model seems to be a stack of different scaled cylinders on it's side.
Using unneeded polys. TO THE MAX.

Also, it's not flat shaded.
